Hackers infiltrated the official X accounts of zksync and its developer Matter Labs, disseminating fraudulent SEC warnings and promoting a malicious airdrop. The breach, which occurred through compromised delegated accounts, was contained by May 13, with control fully restored to the teams.
All malicious posts have been scrubbed, and an internal investigation is ongoing. The incident underscores persistent security vulnerabilities in crypto communications, even among established projects.
